Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy welcomed the Government’s effort in seeking help from economic and industry majors in this region for developing employable skills among the youth.
The Chief Minister outlined his ideas at the introduction of the skill development initiative for Engineering and Non Engineering graduates where the BFSI consortium was a partner here today 25 Sep 2024. Mr. Revanth Reddy has revealed that during his recent discussions with World Bank president Ajay Banga, he was able to speak to such people as Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and Shantanu Narayen of Adobe Systems.
“They were educated in Hyderabad and remembered the city. We will look up to them in the skill enhancement programmes, as well as for investments, when we meet them in December,” he said. He stated that the Government was determined to make Telangana a $1 trillion economy and that measures were being undertaken to triple the State’s annual budget from the current ₹3 lakh crore to ₹7 lakh crore over next four years.
In answering such initiatives as sports universities and other sports academies, the Chief Minister drew some example from South Korea, which is small when compared with India, where during the recent Olympics in Pairs was able to clinch 32 medals, 16 of which were from the Sports University which is located in a 32-acre campus there. “I won’t comment on the situation here as a Chief Minister. But yes, the South Koreans’ achievement needs to be a reality check for us,” he said.
He stated that successive Governments were in a hurry to provide welfare measures like Paying Pension to Old Age Applicants and Shaadi Mubarak whose figures always grew. “One Government comes and gives pension of 2000 Rupees, next Government comes and increases it to 4000 Rupees; the same is the case with Shaadi Mubarak scheme also. This is not innovative thinking,” he said.
The State including Telangana for that matter had a vast pool of manpower and the thrust of the Government whether its State or Central should be to up skill their workforce and empower them. The State Government had thus concentrated its works in the days to come making Telangana a success story for the whole of India with respect to the availability of skilled personnel.
“We are cumbling to provide best international universities to the people of Telangana and particularly the youngsters aiming for themselves to be more competitive in the globe’s market. Our fight is not with Andhra Pradesh or Chennai or Bangalore,’ he averred.”
