At around 2:30 a.m. on July 1st, four members of a family were killed when their house roof collapsed on them at Vanapatla in Nagarkurnool district. According to police, the roof made of mud had sunk in slightly following a heavy downpour during the evening.
Vaibhav Gaikwad, SP of Nagarkurnool police stated that a family consisting of husband, wife and their three children lived in a house with an old mud roof.
His wife Padma, 26, and children Pappi 6 year old twin girls who were born recently and her younger brother Vasantha died while he survived with injuries since he was sleeping outside the house. The statement by the official revealed that the incident occurred because; “The preliminary enquiry revealed that the roof had sunk in a little by night and so even if they planned to keep support for it to hold overnight, they slept without it.” This happened at about 2:30am yesterday (1st July) where an entire ceiling fell on Bhaskar’s wife and three kids.
The dead bodies have been taken for autopsy at government hospital while a statement has been recorded from the injured husband undergoing treatment.
