On Wednesday, a comment made by A. Revanth Reddy, the Chief Minister of Telangana against members of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) such as P. Sabitha Indra Reddy and V. Sunita Lakshma Reddy caused uproar in the Legislative Assembly.
The Chief Minister who interrupted BRS member K.T. Rama Rao’s speech on the Appropriation Bill said he should not trust “sisters” like Ms Sabitha Indra Reddy and Ms Sunita Lakshma Reddy. He recounted how Ms Sabitha Indra Reddy asked him to join Congress before 2019 Lok Sabha elections and guaranteed her backing. However, she joined the party for ministerial berths even before it was announced that he had got the Malkajgiri Lok Sabha ticket from Congress.
Angry about this, Sabitha reminded Mr Revanth saying that he was a hope for the congress and even had chances of becoming a chief minister if he jointed congress “I heartily blessed to Mr Revanth reddy but why is Congress targeting me now?” She questioned.
For this reason, BRS members namely Ms.Sabitha Indra Reddy and K.T.Rama Rao marched into Well of House demanding apologies from the Chief Minister for what he said about her. After explaining that he was going to receive new Governor designate Jishnu Dev Verma at airport before coming back there, Revanth stated that he would come back later.
Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Deputy Chief Minister mentioned how Congress encouraged her (Sabita) by giving here tickets in 2004 assembly elections followed by important portfolios in congress government “I became opposition leader; first dalit to hold that position in congress party and told her remain in congress so that I will not lose this position but she left congress for ministership,” he added noting that the member who switched parties was “killing democracy” and had no right to talk.
