Andhra Pradesh’s Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and his Telangana counterpart A. Revanth Reddy will meet in Hyderabad at 6 p.m. on July 6, 2024.
This Saturday evening, the deliberations between Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and his Andhra Pradesh counterpart N. Chandrababu Naidu will focus on dividing Schedule IX and X assets, debts of these States.
After a span of more than four years, both CMs have invited their respective State government officials to discuss issues that became contentious during the bifurcation process following the enactment of A.P Reorganisation Act in 2014. For instance, as stated in a draft agenda prepared by them, they might have to consider sharing liabilities associated with such anonymous bodies as twelve institutions not stipulated by the same act.
Since the day of partitioning, this has been a subject of major dispute between the two States– counting 243 institutions consisting of 91 under Schedule IX, another 142 under Schedule X but also twelve unnamed ones among them – worth ₹1.42 lakh crore. Moreover; however another key concern is how to divide up assets and liabilities from previous AP State Finance Corporation which could be one of items on their agenda.
Another point here is that expectedly power dues are going to be at logger ends as criticism abounds whereby claims by both states that each owes large sums keep coming up every now and again.. The other issues for discussion include: who is going to bear what costs when it comes to centrally funded projects; and how much belongs Building & Other Construction Worker’s Welfare Board?
They will also talk about how to share three premises: CID Headquarters building; Hermitage Buildings; Lake View Guest House occupied by Telangana since June 1 when Hyderabad ceded its position as joint capital with Andhra Pradesh until disputes between them are fully resolved.
