The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has announced its achievements for November 2024, underlining significant progress in its efforts to combat corruption.
It registered 17 trap cases and one of disproportionate assets during the month, resulting in the arrest and judicial remand of 27 government employees, including three outsourced staff.
A total of ₹3.54 crore was seized in bribery cases across key departments, including Panchayat Raj, Education, Police, Municipal, Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL), Revenue, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), Commercial Tax, Survey and Land Records, and Irrigation. In a case of disproportionate assets involving the Irrigation Department, authorities unearthed illegal assets valued at ₹17.73 crore.
The ACB also achieved notable success in securing convictions in three longstanding corruption cases. On November 7, Jilagam Venkateswara Rao, a Senior Assistant with GHMC, Rajendranagar, was convicted for a trap case from 2013 and sentenced to one year of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of ₹20,000.
On November 12, Thoguri Pochaiah, Deputy Commercial Tax Officer from Mancherial Circle, was sentenced to three years of rigorous imprisonment and fined ₹3,000 in a 2013 corruption case.
P. Ashok, an Assistant Engineer with Nizamabad Municipal Corporation, was convicted on November 13, in a 2012 case and sentenced to two years of rigorous imprisonment with a fine of ₹20,000.
