An 18-year-old died and two others were injured after a tree fell on a home during severe storms in Natchez, Mississippi, on Saturday night, according to the Mississippi emergency management agency. The incident occurred on West Wood Road in the city.
Adams County Coroner James Lee confirmed the death of 18-year-old Tykeria Rogers, according to a WLBT 3 report. Two other individuals were also injured in the incident, though their identities have not been released.
Bradford said authorities were present at the scene at 6:45 pm local time on Saturday.
The National Weather Service reported that two tornadoes struck near Bude and the city of Brandon, tearing the roofs off several buildings.

Around 70,000 people without power
Malary White, chief communications officer for the state’s Emergency Management Agency, said about 71,000 utility customers were without power in Mississippi, with that number expected to increase.
First responders were focused on ensuring safety and accounting for everyone, White said.
“We do anticipate more thorough damage assessments starting in the early morning hours,” she added.

Safety alert issued
The Mississippi highway safety patrol issued a safety alert informing people about possible obstructions while traveling.
“Weather conditions are expected to worsen overnight. Troop M is currently dealing with fallen trees, debris, and downed power lines throughout the district. These hazards are being addressed as they occur, making it difficult to provide specific locations. If you must travel, stay alert and be prepared for obstructions, especially around curves and over hill crests,” it said.

Josh Lichter, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, said, “These storms are probably going to get a lot worse this evening and overnight the further east you go.”
