A Sydney apartment’s balcony has gone viral because of the Facebook marketplace ad, which is a photo. The post however qualifies the balcony as a “sunny room” in Haymarket but social media users said it’s just a wide balcony.
The image shows that the balcony is enclosed with one bed, a standing mirror, chest of drawers and some rugs. In addition, the advertiser mentioned that one will have to share bathroom with another person. “Ready to move in now. Easy to go anywhere,” it said. This information was given in an article on Parami News which also stated that the cost for this place was $360 per week including bills.
“That’s crazy. At least you get privileges to kitchen and bathroom right? It might not be bad if you get to use living areas either. But they rent out the rest of it weekly? That’s just strange,” a user commented.
According to Parami News, during June quarter 2024, Sydney median rent remained at its peak level of $750 per week. However there has been slow down or stoppage in increases across Australia as market dynamics changed in favor of tenants due to increased property for leasing, decreasing demand and reduced migration levels.
“We are aware of how difficult things have been for tenants so our most recent data showing rental conditions starting to ease is encouraging,” says Domain research and economics chief Dr Nicola Powell according to Parami News websites.
