Swati Maliwal, a member in the Rajya Sabha, on June 18th requested INDIA bloc leaders for an appointment to discuss alleged assault on her by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s aid Bibhav Kumar.
In the letter to INDIA bloc leaders such as Rahul Gandhi and Sharad Pawar, the party’s member has complained of being subjected to victim shaming and character assassination after coming out against abuse.
“Instead of getting support, I was faced with repeated attacks on my integrity and victim blaming that emanated from within my party’s hierarchy and activists.” She appended, “I have undergone firsthand agony and loneliness experienced by any survivor who struggles for justice over the past one month…Let us discuss this matter.”
Ms. Swati Maliwal uploaded letters addressed to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and national President Sharad Pawar titled X. “In last 18 years I kept working at ground level; in nine years at Women Commission I have decided more than 1.7 lakh cases. Without fear or favoritism I made Women Commission stand very high but it is unfortunate that first at CM house they badly injured me then defamed my image.”
“Today, I have written a letter regarding this issue to all big leaders of INDIA alliance. Everyone will be given time”, she wrote along with the post.
