AAP has fielded candidates in two of the 26 seats in the state as part of the India Group seat-sharing deal
Sunita Kejriwal, wife of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, took part in a roadshow for Aam Aadmi Party candidate in Gujarat on Thursday, urging people to vote to save the country which is “moving towards dictatorship” .
She said people would respond to her husband’s arrest in a corruption case through the ballot box and campaigned in Bharuch and Bhavnagar Lok Sabha constituencies.
“For the past 40 days, they have put the Chief Minister of Delhi and my husband Arvind Kejriwal in jail. In Gujarat, they have put Chaita Vasava and his wife in jail. No court has found him (Kejriwal) guilty. They Said the investigation is on; if the investigation lasts for ten years, will they jail him for ten years? she said during a roadshow in Botad town of Bhav Nagar constituency.
“Previously, if a person was found guilty by the court, he would be sent to prison. Now, they have launched a new system. As long as the investigation continues and the case continues, the person will be sent to prison. This is obviously tyrannical and authoritarian, ” said Sunita Kejriwal.
She said her husband was an IIT and worked as income tax commissioner but he quit his job to serve the society. Sunita said that during his anti-corruption campaign, he fasted for 12 to 15 days on several occasions, despite doctors prohibiting him from fasting due to diabetes. His blood sugar levels dropped.
“After much difficulty and with the permission of the court, he received insulin,” she said. Sunita said it could be said that authoritarianism in the country had reached its peak, but Kejriwal was not one to give in easily.
“Kejrivarji is the true son of India. Today, I, the daughter of Mother India, ask you to save this country that is heading towards dictatorship. Save this country, save democracy,” she appealed.
AAP’s Bharuch candidate Chaitar Vasava and Bhavnagar candidate Umesh Makwana accompanied her to their respective constituencies, while the party’s Rajya Sabha member Sandeep Pathak attended both roadshows.
Earlier, while talking to reporters at the Ahmedabad airport, Sunita Kejriwal said people are smart and will respond to her husband’s jailing by voting.
“They (BJP) put Arvind Kejriwal in jail during the elections so that his voice could not reach the people. People are very smart and will respond by voting.
Pathak took aim at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks and said he would not allow reservation in the name of religion. “Why did he remember all these things before the election? Why not demand votes based on the merit of your job? I consider the prime minister to be Pakistan’s biggest friend,” he said, adding that people have matured and they seek schools, hospitals and better life.
Earlier in the day, Modi, addressing an election rally in Anand, Gujarat, called the Congress party a “disciple” of Pakistan and said the neighboring country was eager to make the ancient party’s “Sheikh Zada” the next president of India. Prime Minister.
