Swarnarathotsavam (Golden Chariot procession) was held amid festive and spiritual atmosphere in the temple town of Srisailam on Monday (December 16) morning. The processional deities of Sri Bhramarambha Mallikharjuna Swamy were taken out in a procession on the golden chariot amid dances and drum beats in a grand manner.
The processional deities were seated on the golden chariot after special pujas and rituals in the early morning. The chariot was brought out from the Mahadwaram and taken out in a procession on the four Mada streets. As part of encouraging traditional arts, the temple authorities have organised dances by various groups of artistes in front of the procession.
Apart from bhajans, dances by Chenchu devotees enthralled the devotees. Srisailam Devasthanam Executive Officer M Srinivasa Rao, assistant commissioner E Chandrasekhar Reddy, and other officials and Siva Sevaks participated in the procession.
