The Special Lok Adalat is being convened by the Villupuram District Legal Services Authority from July 29 to August 3, for hearing of cases pending in the Supreme Court after a gap of six years.
According to Poornima R., chairperson of Villupuram district legal services authority and principal district judge, the programme is organised as per apex court’s instructions; thus it invites litigants with cases pending to resolve their disputes amicably through this process. The disputants can join through internet or attend personally and benefit from a resolution method available.
N.S. Jayaprakash, Principal Sub-Judge, Villupuram has been designated Nodal Officer for Lok Adalat in Villupuram.
Through an amicable arbitration at Special Lok Adalat the long-pending litigation that ends up in final judicial determination and also provides refunds on court fees will save on expensive litigation costs by cutting down on these expenses as well as providing an agreement between the parties.
It came out that some cases before SC which are settled include matrimonial disputes, property issues, motor accident claims, land acquisition matters, compensation related issues and service and labour.
