South Korea broke the 118-year record as it reported its 26th tropical night in a row with the temperature continuously recorded above 25 Degrees Celsius.
“We are not having any colder wind from down north, and we are being affected by the warm side of southwest and temperature continues to be measured at around 25 degrees or higher,” AFP cited Youn Ki-han, director of Meteorology Forecast Division Seoul as stating.
For the past twenty-one days, Busan has been experiencing what is called a “tropical night”, thus equaling the highest number set in 1994 and repeated again in 2018.
Seoul is witnessing its longest period of heatwaves since weather records began in1907. The previous record set in 2018 was thought to have been the longest but now the weather agency regards this current spell as new norm.

On Thursday, Korean Meteorological Administration (KMA) issued a report that stated that Busan had experienced twenty one consecutive tropical nights starting from Wednesday last week until yesterday when it occurred for the first time on July 25th.
A tropical night is defined as a period when nighttime temperatures remain above 25 degrees Celsius from 6 pm to 9 am next day.
