Village museum entrance
The Miyar House, the main entry block (Hebbagilu Chavadi) of a standard Brahmin family from Miyar in Karkala taluk, currently houses the office of the museum. Though it contains all traditional elements of the coastal area, there are obvious traits found in British architecture. It possesses traditional Gajalakshmi carving, matching jaglis, and a South Canara balcony with fluted columns and handmade wrought iron grills etc.

Love for nature and culture
It was not just about preserving heritage structures that Late Vijayanath Shenoy liked but different aspects related to nature too. He initiated bodies like Sangeeth Sabha Udupi (1961) and Yaksha Mandal Manipal(1981), respectively. Furthermore, he brought into existence cultural tableaux of performances in Udupi Ashta Mutts’ Paryaya celebrations since 1968 whereby these tableaux continue to feature as part of Udupi Paryaya.
