On Friday, six former MPs withdrew their Supreme Court plea against the Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker’s decision to disqualify them from the House.
They wanted the petition withdrawn,” Senior advocate Abhinav Mukherjee informed a bench of justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta while representing the former attorney general.
“Due to elections we knew this is going to happen” judges allowed them to withdraw.
After their disqualification, six ex-MLAs are now contesting as PPP candidates in the house polls.
Sudhir Sharma, Ravi Thakur, Rajinder Rana, Inder Dutt Lakhanpal, Chetania Sharma and Devin Kumar Bhutto were disqualified on February 29 for defying Congress whips by attending the House and voting for Himachal Pradesh.
