S Iswaran, who was Singapore’s transportation minister and is of Indian descent, no longer has any accusations of corruption against him, said the High Court in his trial on Tuesday. However, prosecution will, nevertheless, still continue with five more counts including obtaining valuable items as a public servant. Accused of obtaining things of value by a public servant under Section 165 of the Penal Code, Yadav will face four counts, in another impropriety of five counts, of corruptly destroying evidence obstructing the course of justice under Section 204A(a) of the Penal Code.
All other remaining 30 charges will be taken into consideration. It noted.
Joseph Ishwaran’s law practitioner Davinder Singh ‘My client (Ishwaran) will be taking a certain course of action in the light of the considerations, the prosecution is no longer proceeding with charges under the Prevention of Corruption Act.’
This means he is likely going to change his plea to rather plead guilty.
The 61 year old Iswaran, who was slapped with charges on January 18, had been on bail of SGD 800,000 earlier.
