A suspected incidence of hate crime involving a 45 year old Sikh man occurred in Haryana’s Kaithal on the evening of June 10th, Monday where he was allegedly called ‘Khalistani’ and beaten following an argument after he parked his two-wheeler near a railway crossing.
According to ‘The Hindu’, Kaithal’s superintendent of police, Upasana revealed that the victim Sukhwinder Singh from sector 19, Kaithal stated in his police complaint that they called him “Khalistani” and beat him up. However, she said that it looked like road accident from the start but there was an SIT team led by Gurvinder Singh who is one of the Deputy Superintendent of Police.
He has been charged with having maliciously intended to outrage religious feelings.
Civil Lines Police Station’s station house officer noted that during preliminary investigations between the two parties involved at the level-crossing, this lasted until one party physically assaulted another person whom she claimed was drunk when it happened. However; Sheela explained that apart from his statement there are no other indications supporting what victim alleged against perpertators. The matter is under investigation,” said Ms. Sheela.
Sensibly enough, Amritsar’s Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee posted through its official “X” handle claiming that SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami had taken serious note of the attack and wanted immediate apprehension of those responsible for it.
