It was also announced that Afroz Shah had been awarded the top environmental accolade by United Nations and praised by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi for keeping Versova beach clean; invited to participate.
“Sorry but I am not going anywhere” said Afroz Shah while other guests were screaming with joy when they announced his name as winner of best environment award. Shah is most famous for leading the world’s largest beach clean-up project that has grown into a movement inspiring people around the globe to clean their surroundings. They are true ‘Asli Yodha’ since they exemplify heroism.

According to Col Rajeev Bharwan, Indian Army Veteran, “To be called an Asli Yodha, is a great honor. Each soldier in the Indian Army serves only with one purpose: to protect our motherland and ensure its safety. This recognition does not belong only to me but every brave soldier who is there at our borders.”
Afroz Shah, environmental activist and lawyer best known for organizing the world’s largest beach clean-up project said, “Being part of the ‘Asli Yodha’ campaign is a great privilege.
