On August 3, BS Yediyurappa and HD Kumaraswamy, two former Chief Ministers in the BJP-JDS alliance as well as other leaders initiated the ten-day ‘Mysuru Chalo’ padayatra against MUDA sites irregularities demanding that Siddaramaiah should step down while they were on their way to Mysuru.
The padayatra originated from Bangalore’s Kengeri was officially flagged off by a bugle blow and beating of a musical instrument Nagari in unison by top leaders from both parties such as B.Y. Vijayendra the State President BJP and JD(S) Youth Wing president Nikhil Kumaraswamy.
Prior to commencement of programme, Mr. Vijayendra and his family visited Chamundeshwari temple at Mysore resulting into more than three hours delay. The opposition leader said that their fight is about giving voice to people’s wishes and protecting them.
Mr. Yediyurappa alleged that Siddaramaiah has been caught up with this scandal of allotting illegal MUDA sites saying “he should resign”.
Yediyurappa then addressed workers and leaders from both parties telling them that it would be better for Siddaramaiah to resign honorably before our yatra ends. I believe he will do so even without any reason.”
Describing Congress claims about uplifting downtrodden communities but what they did in regards to scamming MUDA and Valmiki Corporation has exposed its anti-Dalit face, Union Minister for Steel & Heavy Industries H.D. Kumaraswamy stated.
“I am aware through social media where one of Shivakumar’s guru [close associate] had let out information that his family only had a black & white TV set along with DVD set.” He quizzed “What programs have you watched on that black & white television and DVD which made your family earn over 1,400 crore?”
“They are sure that they will be ruling for ten years. Let the Congress rule in the state even for ten months instead of ten years. Your pot of sins is full,” said Mr. Kumaraswamy.
R. Ashoka, leader of opposition in the Karnataka assembly, speaking at this occasion mentioned that Congress has no moral right to question Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot for issuing a notice to the Chief Minister.
“He’s already started shivering just because he was served with a mere notice by the Governor; you can imagine what would happen if the same governor granted permission to prosecute him as CM,” asked R. Ashoka “How do you question your own governor?”
According to Mr. Ashok, there is one group within Congress which wants the government to fall and thus Congress has organised a parallel ‘Janaandolana’ to clear BJP’s padayatra way . “Our slogan should demand that he should resign before our yatra ends.” He settled down.
All leaders accused an officer from police force who died in Yadgir because a local MLA demanded 30 lakh rupees from him and due to his inability to afford it. “This is how honest officials are treated in our State”, they claimed
Other speakers included Radha Mohan Das Agarwal, BJP National general Secretary & Karnataka State In-Charge Prahalad Joshi, DV Sadanand Gowda, Chaluvadi Narayanswamy among others.
