Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stated that he never made any mistakes that would necessitate his resignation.
Earlier in the day, Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot gave his approval for the prosecution of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah over alleged irregularities in allotment of sites by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA), terming it as “illegal and unconstitutional.” He was categorical that he is not going to step down from his position as a chief minister. On the contrary; he prefers to fight the allegations before a court of law within lawful parameters.
Reacting for the first time after Governor’s decision on August 17, Mr Siddaramaiah said he has not done anything wrong to resign. The BJP, JD(S) and others had hatched a conspiracy to destabilise the Congress government in Karnataka.
“The Raj Bhavan has been misused by the BJP for its political gain. The elected government is being conspired against. The Governor is nothing but a puppet in Central Government hands,” he added.
When asked about what party high command had decided, he said “High Command with me whole Cabinet with me all MLAs with me all Lok Sabha members including Rajya Sabha are with me.”
The governor should also allow Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy’s prosecution which is pending before him as well as former ministers Shashikala Jolle and Murgesh Nirani who have already decamped into BJP fold.
