On June 6, JDU Senior Leader K.C. Tyagi said that his party had offered an unconditional support to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led NDA but wanted the flaws of Agnipath scheme to be examine in details.
“Few voters were disappointed about Agniveer. Our party needs all those questioned weaknesses by people to be explained exhaustively and eliminated,” he added.
Agnipath Scheme is a program in Indian Armed Forces through which eligible candidates will be enrolled as Agniveers for four years only.
Other than that, they can opt for permanent cadre application after their agreed period based on organizational needs and policies of the Armed Forces.
Some 25% of them are expected to form part of regular Army after being selected as such from among all Agniveers.
Likewise, JDU spokesperson K.C. Tyagi talked about Uniform Civil Code (UCC), one of the promises made by BJP during campaigns. He indicated that JDU does not oppose UCC but would prefer discussions with stakeholders.
“We are not against the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). But we reckon that it should be discuss with all the stakeholders including the states. Chief Ministers and political parties”, he said.
Caste census is also another subject champion by this JDU leader who believes PM Narendra Modi does not object it.
“A caste census is being demand by all. Bihar has paved the way for it. Even the Prime Minister did not oppose the caste census, so we will pursue it,” stated Mr. Tyagi
K.C. Tyagi also spoke on special status for Bihar. Which has been a demand of the party and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
“There is no pre-condition. There is unconditional support… But Bihar should be give a special status. That is something which we have in our heart…” said KC Tyagi.
The BJP won 240 seats, according to Tuesday’s results announced by the Election Commission of India, and it has 293 seats when counting those secured with allies. TDP of Chandrababu Naidu and JDU of Nitish Kumar had respectively secured 16 and 12 parliamentary seats in Andhra Pradesh and Bihar and backed up NDA.
Congress having won 99 seats in the last elections is now second in place with INDIA block which boasts of 234 MPs.
