Sharad Pawar, NCP (SP) chief, has supported the candidates protesting in Pune and calling for the postponement of MPSC prelims scheduled for August 25 while warning that he would also join the protest if there is no clarification to this effect from the Government.
Since Tuesday night, a number of job seekers who were preparing for Maharashtra State Public Commission preliminary exam have been protesting demanding that it should be set on another date as it falls on a day when some will sit for banking exams.
Rohit Pawar, an NCP(SP) legislator also joined this agitation and sat along with these agitating candidates.
They are also demanding that selection of 258 positions from the agricultural department be done through MPSC exam.
As quoted by the X newspaper late Wednesday (August 21, 2024), Night “It is incumbent upon the state government to consider students’ interests taking MPSC exams…However, it appears that those who rule are not treating it seriously. I will go to where they are demonstrating tomorrow and take part in their demonstration if by then (Thursday) morning the government has not clarified its stand so as to ensure justice for them”.
An aspiring MPSC candidate said that they wanted all posts from agriculture department totaling two hundred fifty eight brought under MPSC preview.
“Inasmuch as on August 25th when IBPS examination is scheduled coincides with MPSC examination for clerical staff positions in banks; therefore many teachers have requested postponing of exams. It would be impossible for them to write both papers within one day,” added one agitated candidate.
