SRK was seen at the airport earlier today as he departed for Switzerland where he will receive the highly respected Pardo alla Carriera Ascona-Locarno award at the 77th Locarno Film Festival. The ceremony will take place on August 10, 2024, at Piazza Grande where SRK will be recognized for his outstanding contribution to world cinema spanning over thirty years and covering more than a hundred movies.
On August 11, SRK will participate in a public discussion at Cinema GranRex beginning at 5 PM local time. Due to an overwhelming response from fans worldwide, the venue has been changed and it can be watched live by all through online streaming.
In addition to that, Khan’s significant performances that have globally shaped cinema are going to be honored with a special screening on August 10.
This accolade follows a great year for Khan who successfully starred in Pathaan, Jawan and Dunki which were blockbusters and cemented his name as an influential figure in film industry. Beyond his acting career, Khan has also been actively contributing off screen. His global impact can be seen from his induction into AMPAS (Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences) since 2018.
The Pardo alla Carriera Ascona-Locarno award previously conferred upon such film icons as Claudia Cardinale or Harry Belafonte is now bestowed upon Shah Rukh Khan for tremendous career success. It marks India’s cultural diversity through Bollywood that has taken its place among renowned filmmakers worldwide.
