Fake applications for Indian Cricket Team’s head coach position use names of Shah Rukh Khan, Narendra Modi, MS Dhoni
Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla’s team Kolkata Knight Rider (KKR) won this season of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Hence, Indian cricketers are now preparing for ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, 2024. As a result, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is now grappling with who to select as the next head coach of the national men cricket team. The board recently confirmed that there were about 3400 such applications out of a total number receive by May 27th deadline. These fake entries include names from notable personalities like politicians, Narendra Modi and Amit Shah and film celebrities Shah Rukh Khan. There were also some other prominent names like cricket legends Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni and Virender Sehwag.
India Today reported that BCCI was faced with similar challenges last year too where they received such false applications in large numbers. That seems to be largely attributed to the ease of access through their website on online application form available on BCCI homepage. Accordingly, the board is considering alternative ways to reduce fraudulent applications in future.
The source told India Today, ”Since the application process is in the public domain, fans and many people can easily access the form.” “We may think of reducing all these things going forward. We may come up with some new processes of inviting applications which will rule out fake applications.”
It now appears that Gautam Gambhir might be one leading candidate amongst numerous authentic ones following an examination into his genuine registration documents which showed him as a mentor at IPL 2024 champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). However; competition exists for Gambhir’s candidature because previously there were talks concerning Justin Langer along with Ricky Ponting, but both of them publicly denied the same.
The present head coach, Rahul Dravid, will step down after the T20 World Cup in June stating he wants to spend much time with his family. Although there are many strong points supporting Gambhir’s bid for that position, other contenders may emerge at any given time. This can also include former Indian cricketers like VVS Laxman Anil Kumble and Ravi Shastri.
Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan had a great time last weekend when his team won IPL 2024 title after a decade. Recently, the actor suffered from sunstroke while in Gujarat. He will begin shooting for his next film King in July 2024.
