An official said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah had launched this programme that will make the immigration process of pre-verified Indian nationals and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders fast.
According to an official, the Fast Track Immigration-Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP) is a ‘visionary initiative’ by the government, which has been tailored to benefit Indian nationals and OCI cardholders.
In line with the specified application form, eligible individuals will be required to make online applications and provide their biometrics details such as fingerprints and facial images. He revealed that FTI enrolment would last up to five years or until the expiry of passport whichever comes first.
Upon approval on their submissions, a message will be sent for them to book appointments. The applicants can present their biometrics at any FRRO nearby or designated international airports in India as per given times for prior booking.
Compulsorily, he added, biometric information should accompany all applications before being processed.
While applying for the FTI-TTPs, he added that applicants are reminded to ensure a minimum passport validity of not less than six months. The member of programmer’s membership will terminate simultaneously with his/her passport validity according to him; while another official noted that in order for your application not to be disallowed it is important you give your current residential address.
However, an official stated that if any incorrect or false information is provided in the application form it shall render it liable for rejection. Further he stated that those were not going to be registered under the FTI-TTP whose biometrics could not be captured for one technical reason or another.
He disclosed this when talking about how this ambitious project would transform people’s travel experiences making them faster more convenient and secure too.
“Again I say this government understands convenience during travelling:” revealed an officer in charge. Verification of eligibility and necessary verifications must be carried out before finalizing registration under FTI according to him.
After their identity has been authenticated successfully through mobile OTP and email verification, only then their registration as applicants will be completed. The Union Home Ministry also shared a support help desk email ID — india.ftittp-boi@mha.gov.in.
