Shabana Azmi, an actress, has just added another feather to her cap. The talented woman received an honorary doctorate from Techno India University in Kolkata. She is thankful for the recognition and particularly feels honored by the presence of other famous people such as Jogen Choudhry, Leander Paes, Shankar Mahadevan and Droupadi Murmu. Who is also known as the president of India.
Shabana Azmi felicitated with Honorary Doctorate: “Art can be used as an instrument for social change”
Four distinguished individuals were honoured during a ceremony that celebrated excellence. Shabana Azmi was one of the pioneers in Indian cinema. Her characters are complexly drawn and full of rich emotions. Which are evoked skillfully making many critics applaud her acting prowess.
According to Shabana Azmi. “I am very honoured to get it because the stature of the other recipients was so high that I actually don’t think. I deserved this honour hence my attempts at being so modest but I do believe, now that I have got it. It also places a responsibility on me. Thus art is an instrument for social change and this is what I have tried to do at least in my own little way.”
“It’s great! Absolutely fabulous!” exclaimed musician Shankar Mahadevan when he knew he would be sharing honours with fellow awardees especially Azmi.
Shabana Azmi looks forward to Bun Tikki. Directed by Faraz Arif Ansari and produced by Manish Malhotra’s Stage 5 Production and Jio Studios. Whose release date will soon be announced. It stars Abhay Deol and Zeenat Aman too.
