A senior police officer on Monday (1 October 2024) said that seven children were got injured from which three suffered very serious injuries due to gas explosion near a garbage dump located in Bhagalpur district, Bihar.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Bhagalpur, Anand Kumar has said that the blast occurred in Khilafat Nagar area which is under network or jurisdiction of Habibpur Station of the town and since there were children it seems they played with some bomb explosive.
“There were seven children injured out of which three of them sustained severe injuries. They have all been admitted in the nearest Government hospital,” he said.
“The incident occurred around noon and forensic experts and dog squad have also arrived to the scene to mop up any such unexploded ordnance, should there be any at the rubbish site and also ascertain the cause of the explosion that occurred,” said the SSP.
He said a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has also been constituted to carry out the further investigation on the issue.
