Two men were arrested by Rajendranagar police for their involvement in a series of six instances of chain snatching that took place between October 2023 and July 2024 across Rajendranagar, Shamshabad and Shadnager. On Tuesday, two gold chains worth Rs 11.10 lakh were recovered from the duo.
Mudavath Pandu, aged 36 and Mudavath Sevya, aged 23 both residents of Nagarkurnool were arrested following a complaint lodged by a lady from Sai Baba Colony of Gandipet on July 16th
According to the woman’s complaint, around 7:10 p.m in July 16th at Budwel Bus Stop when she was waiting for her bus to come home after work two guys approached her from behind and took away with her gold chain. By reviewing CCTV footage as part of the investigation, it became obvious that these two individuals had been engaged in four other snatchings at the same place during the same time over the last three years.
“Both miscreants walk up unsuspectingly behind people before snatching their chains; they prefer targeting women who wait for buses or auto-rickshaws to take them back home. The usual time range is between seven to eight o’clock which is when they perpetrate all these crimes,” Ch Srinivas DCP Rajendra Nagar said.
These persons are habitual offenders and have previously been booked by Timmajipet Jadcherla Kandukur Bibinagar Bijinapalle Devarakonda Shadnagar Keshampet police for thefts up to burglary charges.
Mudavath Pandu has registered about twenty-one cases including two attempt to murder cases five simple thefts (those simple ones) three burglaries (some ordinary ones), nine snatching cases whereas Mudavath Sevya has registered sixteen cases including two attempt to murder cases As per the law, these are the same as twenty one cases in Mudavath Pandu’s file which also has five ordinary thefts two burglaries and six snatching cases and eighteen cases against Mudavath Sevya including two bodily offence cases three burglaries and seven snatching case.
