Equity benchmark indices opened higher on September 10, 2024, as local investors spun around the favorable global markets along with the new foreign fund inflow.
30 share BSE Sensex added 241.68 points to its value reaching 81,801.22 in early trade. Nifty of NSE added 78.4 points to 25,014.80.
Among 30 Sensex hitters today, Power Grid, Bharti Airtel, Axis Bank, Tata Steel, NTPC, Sun Pharma, Larsen & Toubro and Titan were in top gainer’s group.
Weak performers included Bajaj Finserv, Mahindra & Mahindra, Bajaj Finance and Kotak Mahindra Bank.
In the Asian markets, Seoul, Tokyo and Hong Kong were at positive trades and Shanghai was negative.
U.S’s markets on September 9, 2024 went much higher even at the end.
As per the data from the exchange, Foreign Institutional Investors bought in equities worth ₹1,176.55 on Monday, September 9, 2024. Domestic Institutional Investors also purchased equities in the amount of 1,757.02 crore.
“There was a quick selling on those with excessive stocks after an overnight recovery on Wall Street and high net buying from both FIIs and DIIs as oil prices remain weak it appears bargain hunters will come out to play,” Prashanth Tapse, Senior VP (Research), Mehta Equities Ltd said.
Meanwhile, on Monday, September 9, 2024, the BSE benchmark Sensex rose 375.61 points or 0.46% to notch 81,559.54 at the close. The poor performance of the three-day session was followed by a rise of 84.25 points or 0.34% in the NSE Nifty to close at 24,936.40.
