The 15th annual Indian Film Festival of Melbourne is happy to announce that the much anticipated Netflix film Sector 36 will be premiering on the 15th at Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM). A crime-thriller, which stars Vikrant Massey and Deepak Dobriyal, marks Aditya Nimbalkar’s directorial debut and is a joint production between Maddock Films and Jio Studios. It will be released next month.
Sector 36 is inspired by true incidents revolving around child abduction in a local slum. The storyline follows a cop who squabbles with a serial murderer after an unsettling investigation uncovers some dark secrets. ‘I am feeling privileged today along with Netflix, Maddock Films and Jio Studios to introduce our film- Sector 36, at IFFM 2024 as world premiere,’ said leading actor Vikrant Massey. ‘We are grateful to have this playing at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne. It’s a story that needs to be told; I cannot wait for the Australian audience or even my own people in India to see what we have managed to put together.’
Aditya Nimbalkar aims to give you goosebumps with his story telling. “We are thrilled to present Netflix’s ‘Sector 36’ as part of this year’s festival and as part of our spotlight program,” said Mitu Bhowmick Lange, IFFM festival director. Its high-octane storytelling combined with great performances makes it suitable for our target audience. More importantly, we cannot wait till every single person attending on the Australian mainland sees this tension-filled experience.”
Besides Vikrant Massey and Deepak Dobriyal, Akash Khurana too is expected to play an important role in this crime thriller. It is written by Bodhayan Roy chaudhury, produced by Dinesh Vijan & Jyoti Deshpande and set to be released on 13th September 2024.
