On June 10, 2024, terrorists ambushed a bus carrying pilgrims in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir during a search operation by security personnel.

After the attack on Sunday evening when ten pilgrims were killed in a bus coming from Shiv Khori, Indian Army launched a search operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi on June 10 morning.

State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) has arrived in Reasi and drones are being used in search operation in dense forest areas around the area of incident.

At least ten people were killed and thirty-three others were injured after terrorists attacked them yesterday night as confirmed by Reasi District Commissioner Vishesh Mahajan on Sunday night.

According to officials, at about 6.10 p.m., the bus which was en-route from Shiv Khori shrine to Katra was targetted by terrorists at Pouni area of Reasi district bordering with Rajouri district. Mohita Sharma told ANI that “The driver lost control due to firing by terrorists and the vehicle fell into a ravine.”

Mohita Sharma also said that all those who were trapped have been evacuated; they are currently receiving treatment at Naraina as well as Reasi District hospitals. “It is not clear yet who these people are but initial reports indicate that they are from Uttar Pradesh” he added.

The terror attack claimed lives of 10 people including several others sustaining injuries while drones have been deployed for searching the forest area.

Manoj Sinha condemned this act saying it will be dealt with accordingly while warning those behind it against any further impunity.” I strongly condemn the cowardly terror attack on a bus in Reasi,” he added. My condolences to martyred civilians’ families. Our security forces along with JKP have launched a joint operation to nab the terrorists the L-G said in a post on X.

“We are monitoring this situation constantly as per PM Narendra Modi Ji’s directions. Whoever perpetrated this heinous act will be brought to justice soon. PM has also directed that all injured should be given best possible medical care and assistance,” J&K L-G added.

Swearing-in ceremony of PM Modi and his council of ministers was attended by dignitaries from all neighbouring countries other than Pakistan, said Defence Expert Hemant Mahajan; hence, its purpose is very clear if this attack takes place at this stage.

“Tourism in Kashmir has grown where local residents could do business and get jobs. This kind of attacks will ruin everything,” he noted.

“That happened when Amarnath Yatra was about to commence through that route… Indian Army-led security forces must take offensive action either to capture or eliminate those who perpetuate these attacks,” he concluded.
