SCOOP: The shooting of Akshay Kumar’s Marathi film Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat has been paused due to budget constraints
Furthermore, the industry, trade and moviegoers were astonished when they heard that Akshay Kumar had bagged on a Marathi film in November 2022. Additionally, the makers revealed that he would be playing Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in this historical period flick called Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat. A month later, there was a quick video of him as the great emperor which caught eyeballs immediately. During one of these occasions when it was launched, it was announced that it would release on Diwali 2023. In September last year, there were reports saying that the film had been postponed until further notice, but since then there hasn’t been any update about it.
According to Bollywood Hungama, Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat is hanging in the balance. A source told us “the shoot has been halted because its producer Vaseem Qureshi is facing budget issues.”
“Half of the shooting is done,” said the source “Akshay Kumar has made a special appearance and shot for three days while already receiving his cut fee.” However, nobody can tell whether or not Akshay finished his part or if he will have to go back filming at Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat once production resumes.
“There are no updates as yet on when these issues will be resolved nor when completion of the remaining portion of shooting will happen; even its release date is unclear”, added another source from this media outlet (Bollywood Hungama) who tried reaching out Qureshi’s mouthpiece but drew blank.
Mahesh Manjrekar’s Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saatis also featuring his son Satya and Pravin Tarde, Jay Dudhane, Hardik Joshi, Vishal Nikam, Utkarsh Shinde and Virat Madke. Besides this, it is also getting dubbed in Tamil, Hindi as well as Telugu.
However, an industry insider said “These things happen. There’s no reason to press the panic button. It’s a big film involving names like Akshay Kumar and Mahesh Manjrekar. I am sure the issues will get sorted and the shoot will resume soon. Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat has the potential to be a huge hit due to the subject, scale and of course Akshay’s starry presence.”
