297 people are said to be on board a Saudi Airlines plane that caught fire as it was landing at Peshawar airport in Pakistan on Thursday, according to Pakistan Observer. It has been reported that the fault resulted from some problem with its landing gear.
The passengers and other members of crew were all evacuated without any harm. The crash did not lead to any deaths till now. The plane was flying from Riyadh to Peshawar.
According to a statement issued by Saudi Airlines, “the aircraft experienced smoke coming out one tire during touch-down at Peshawar International Airport, Pakistan.”
“Saudi clarifies that its airplane bound for Riyadh from Peshawar flight no SV792 had smoke emanating from one of the tires on touchdown at Peshawar International Airport”, stated Saudia.
“The relevant authorities were immediately informed and the plane came to standstill. All guests and crew exited through evacuation slides safely. The aircraft is undergoing technical evaluation by experts,” said the statement.
Some areas of the aircraft showing visible burn damage were posted on X by Global Defense Insight.
The post read, “Then an air traffic controller quickly alerted the pilot, as well as Fire and Rescue Services who managed to reach there before it could become a major accident putting off the fire promptly.”
“All 276 passengers along with 21 crew members managed to evacuate themselves using escape slide. Flight originated from Riyadh towards Peshawar”, according to it.
