“Kedarnath and Simmba fights over my dates, I got SUE for Rs. 5 crores” – Sara Ali Khan
“In May 2018, I was suppose to do Simmba. Then Kedarnath happened; it was my launch film. Some dates went upar neeche and I signed on Simmba also. Now there were three or four overlapping dates. And yeah, (smiles) the makers of Kedarnath sued me for five crore rupees! I remember being very scare about that because I did not have 5 crores (smiles).”
“It was a difficult time in my life,” said Sara Ali Khan, adding, “My mother (Amrita Singh) had gone to Delhi as her father is dying and Ibrahim was in school. And then a vakaalatnaama came to me. So, ‘Ab iska main kya karoon? Samaj hi nahin aa raha’! So sent management to court as I had to go and shoot which the makers knew as they were also at the shoot (smiles)!”
Thankfully out of court settlement happened almost immediately afterwards. “Rohit sir (Rohit Shetty) and Gattu sir (Abhishek Kapoor) met in a room. It felt a bit odd so Ranveer Singh (her co-star in Simmba) just walked out of the room saying ‘Okay, then.” And thus within no time an agreement was made between them all; Siri revealed: “Kedarnath’s makers only wanted three days but Rohit sir said take them! Case ended.”
She continued by saying that she spent much of her time traveling back and forth from Hyderabad to Mumbai; shooting at night for Simmba while doing Kedarnath in mornings too.” She also mentioned that equation with Abhishek Kapoor changed because of the case. Then one day, she got her spot girl Zarna who makes good coffee to make the cup for Abhishek Kapoor. Then “After this, the shoot went smoothly.”
Sara Ali Khan also made it clear there was no bitterness between her and Abhishek saying, “He had his reasons too. And now that’s all good.”
