Director Sanjay leela Bhansali is one of the few filmmaker-adaptors who gracefully embraces and satisfies the solo production option in his upcoming epic period drama Love & War. The drama, scheduled to go on floors next month also stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal. It was quite recently that Bhansali made headlines self-producing his film following the debut of his web series Heera Mandi: The Diamond Bazaar on Netflix and doing quite well. Back to this success, it appears to be that Bhansali has secured in a major deal biggest of which is said to be post theatrical with the streaming company.
As per a report in Mid-day, industry sources have revealed that Netflix has committed a base price of Rs. 130 crore for the streaming rights of Love & War. However, the amount is expected to go higher after the revenue collection from the film is revealed. Besides the Netflix contact, Bhansali has also completed an agreement with Saregama for music rights worth Rs 35 crore. In addition, Bhansali is at an advanced stage of discussion with a top television channel for the satellite rights, which is estimated at approximately Rs 50 crore.
