Sanjith Sivan, a veteran director in the film industry, was paid the last respect by movie industry family members on his death on May 8th due to poor health conditions. The cremation ceremony of the filmmaker took place at Oshihara Crematorium yesterday with friends from the industry and well-wishers converging.
Others were Anupam Kher, Sham Kaushal , Fardeen Khan , Ritual Deshmukh , Tashar Kapoor and Jayed KhanJaved Jaffrey; as well as Ken Ghosh among others who came to bid farewell to the body of Sangeeth Sivan.
The director had been receiving treatment for urinary tract infection. He died on Wednesday after suffering a heart attack at Corkyraben Hospital In Mumbai. Sanjeev Sivan confirmed that his brother’s death was caused by cardiac failure.
Sangeeth Sivan is the eldest son of cinematographer and photographer Sivan who made significant contributions to Indian films. His wife Jayashree with their children Sanjana and Shanthanu survive him.
Sanjith started his career in cinema as an assistant director then went on to write scripts and executive produce Raakh (1989), a Hindi film. Yoddha (1992) which was one of Malayalam cinema’s biggest hits became his second film as a full time director.
He later directed some more movies in malyalam before moving to Mumbai where he has since directed seven hindi films and several web series like Chura Liyaa Hai Tumne , Kyaa Kool Hai Hum, Apna Sapna Money Money and Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 etc.
