Salman Khan will start AR Murugadoss’ Sikandar on June 20 with a packed schedule full of action in Mumbai: Report
Salman Khan unveiled his grand project called Sikandar, which he hopes will make up for the lack of a release by him during Eid 2024. It is an action extravaganza and this is Salman’s first collaborative work with AR Murugadoss as the director, so it is expected to start shooting in June 2024. Currently, Murugadoss is involved in several projects including one which is an action film with Sivakarthikeyan a Tamil star whose name is tentatively SK23. To ensure that there are no hitches as he transitions from one to another, he intends that SK23 wraps up a bulk of its production before starting on this Khan’s film.
“Murugadoss wants to complete as much of SK23 as possible before Sikandar goes on floors,” an insider revealed according to Mid-day report. For this reason, plan was laid out whereby the initial schedule of Sikandar would be shot in May and then come back to Sivakarthikeyan’s film in June. Then from July onwards, all attention will be given towards sikander by murugadoss.
Despite the director’s tight schedule; the team has been working around the clock for target Eid 2025 release date. In order to keep everything moving smoothly without any unnecessary delays, “Murugadoss has put together a dedicated team that will speed up production on SK23,” added our informer.
This pre-production started last week in May according to another report from the same publication paving way for shooting next month after June. The first leg shall take place at Mumbai and scouting for locations is ongoing so that filming spots can be finalized. In addition, photoshoots involving Salman Khan are set for late May while principal photography is expected to take off by 20th June.
Action directors are busy choreographing these set pieces as action scenes remain the priority for Murugadoss. Salman Khan has started preparing himself for the same. “Salman insists on performing the action sequences himself. He has modified his workout regimen to achieve a chiseled physique,” the source revealed.
Khan and leading lady Rashmika Mandanna will start table reads in early June. A significant portion of the film will be shot in Mumbai and Hyderabad before they leave for an international schedule. Consequently, filming locations shall be informed only on need-to-know basis, considering that Khan had previously been threatened.
After a break of eight years following Akira (2016), Sikandar marks Murugadoss’s comeback to Hindi cinema in Bollywood. In addition, this project reunites Sajid Nadiadwala, who is known for producing blockbuster hits such as “Kick”, Judwaa” and ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’ with Salman Khan.”
