Bollywood star Salman Khan has rebutted allegations made in a recent news article published by Asia News International (ANI). The article, dated September 4, carried comments for lawyer Amit Mishra who is representing two persons accused in the shootout incident outside of Salman Khan’s house in Mumbai, India. The piece stated that salman khan nomore than ‘had contacts’ with d company underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.
Unlike many of his Bollywood colleagues, this is not the first time Khan has backed down. As per a Live Law India report, in response to this claim, Khan has served a legal notice through his lawyers at DSK Legal demanding public apology and the deletion of the article. He states that the charges are frivolous, libelous, and calculated to ruin Khan’s hard earned reputation over the years.
The sources of the article under consideration pointed to such statements by Mishra concerning his clients’ threats posed by people linked to the D-company. Mishra also pointed out that the especially indulging “underground” group, concerning Khan, raised many doubts on his intentions towards suspects Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal. In the legal notice, Khan firmly denies these allegations, stating, “Our client denies all the allegations made by Mishra against him in the Impugned Article and states that the allegations therein are unfounded and made with ulterior motive and are completely false and malicious and scandalous.”
Salman Khan further describes the claims as not only incorrect but rather shameful calculated moves to try and capture headlines and somewhat infuse them in the already volatile plight of the star. The notice of this suit further alleges that Mishra and the ANI cannot both have cured all that was wrong with stopping any scandals and disinformation. Khan’s legal team believes that those attempting to justify such statements do so in order to downplay real issues irrelevant solely to the firing episode but also simp the audience towards the defendants. The actor says, “This is merely an attempt by the defendants to gain public sympathy and divert attention from the issue.”
The actor emphasizes the extreme nature of the accusations and calls them out of the place and misdirected.
He further adds that Mishra’s accusation poses a threat and undermines his image in the public eye. ‘The allegations against him are false and defamatory and have no merit as they were file to defame and endanger the good name and trust that our client holds,’ clarifies the notice.
Salman Khan requests that ANI and Mishra publish in primary newspapers an unconditional apology within 48 hours along with a note of retraction of the original article. He also contends that they should not repeat the same in future. The notice cautions that if not, there may be legal repercussions. ‘Thus, if you fail to comply as per the above within 48 hours of receipt of this notice, our client shall be left with no option but to take necessary criminal and/or civil legal action against you.’
How ANI and Mishra will respond to Khan’s demands is, again, a concern for the future.
