It shocked everyone when in almost two years Prince Harry and Prince William, estranged for many years, came together. After Queen Elizabeth II’s death, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were joined by The Prince and Princess of Wales to visit flowers laid in tribute as well as meet members of the public who had gathered.
Later it emerged that Prince William had sent a late text to his brother inviting him and Meghan to join him with Kate on a walk across Windsor called the Long Walk. This was the first time that the public got to see all four of them together since they resigned from their royal duties and relocated to America.
The couples both dressed in black during this 40-minute walk through which they were also seen shaking hands with people, receiving flowers, Paddington Bear soft toys or other gifts. They appeared somewhat jittery but spent nearly an hour speaking to fans waiting outside the castle gates.
A confidential source disclosed to Daily Mail that William made a choice of making amends with his younger sibling “absolutely not at the behest” of their father who is now king as had been suggested earlier. These claims were however rubbished indicating that rumors regarding William only acting after learning that Harry planned his own walkabout with a camera crew were “utter rubbish.”
In fact, it is believed that even before he texted Harry about viewing flowers alongside him and greeting well-wishers on behalf of her Majesty, Prince William was thinking about doing just that. Besides acknowledging the invitation by replying to the message, Prince Charles felt obligated towards his grandmother’s memory during these days of mourning.
Both brothers flew up north towards Balmoral Castle in Aberdeenshire where they intended their final goodbye prior to her grandma passing away at 3:10 p.m. The same day when King Charles lunched with Prince William at Birkhall nearby; Harry remained behind for dinner with some other relatives in Balmoral.
