As reported by NDTV, Rimi Sen has filed a 50-crore lawsuit against Land Rover’s car production company. “There is something wrong with the car,” she claims in her suit. This is animosity towards a person who did not run away after buying a luxury car for 92 lakh rupees in 2020. This esteemed abscribed, has claimed that it gave her a lot of discomfort since the vehicle had several faults even after a good number of maintenance.
Troubles with the Car and Company’s Response
Rimi Sen’s complaint also states that the Bharat SUV was sourced from the authorized investor Satish Motors Pvt. Ltd. Which is also a visible authorized retailer for the Jaguar Land Rover and that it should still be able to provide warranty until January 2023. But the car was hardly used during this period as a result of the outbreak of COVID-19 and the lockdowns that followed. Soon after starting frequent use of the vehicle, Sen alleges, some defects rose which included issues with the sunroof, sound system and rear-end camera.
One of the important incidents occurred on 25th August 2022 when a collision with a pillar was attributed to a defective rear-end camera that the plaintiff claims was inoperative. Although noting these defects and notifying the dealer regarding them, Sen maintains that no appropriate responses were taken to address her concerns. In order to document the alleged deficiencies, she was reportedly instructed to do so, with that action leading to a nonsensical cycle of repairs in which one problem was alleged to have been fixed only for another to be claimed.
Manufacturing and Maintenance Defects
In the letter of demand filed by Rimi Sen in the court, Sen claimed that the car is defective not only at its making but also in intervening that is maintenance at the authorized dealer. It is true that it has gone back for repairs over ten times yet the issues remain. This, she contends, has led to a lot of mental harassment and cause a lot of disturbances to her.
Consequently, Sen is claiming Rs 50 crores with regard to the mental harassment suffered due to such action and further Rs 10 lac towards her legal expenses. She is also looking for the replacement of the defective vehicle.
