The release of Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar has set tongues wagging. This first Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial foray into the realm of web series and the cast of actresses and actors have got lots of love from insiders in the industry and fans as well. However, it was Sharmin Segal, SLB’s niece, who became a victim to trolls with many reviewers brutally panning her acting skills. On her side was also her friend at work Richa Chadha who portrayed Lajjo.
“Truthfully, I think it is the audience’s right”. Reacting to Sheamin segal’s being attacked for her role in Heeramandi by trolls, Richa Chadha said these words.
This comment by Chadha came up during an interview with Pinkvilla when she addressed Sharmin Segal’s trolling for her Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar performance as she stated that “I think truthfully, it is the audience’s right”. One could either like the show or hate it since people are entitled to their different opinions. You might enjoy some performances while you might dislike others.” However, she warned that no one should do anything that would hurt an actor. “But what happens today I think in this era of social media when people start trolling making memes doing all that that’s a bit hurtful, I think for anyone. We must never be unkind because it can happen to you tomorrow and everyone is a human being,” added Chadha.
However, earlier on Taha Shah Badussha came out in defense of his coworker saying that her ‘method’ involves being subtle whenever acting.
