A few days ago, popular actress Raveena Tandon found herself in a difficult situation when a video showing her being mobbed was posted online. The video, uploaded on June 2 by one of the social media users who claimed to be a freelance journalist, wrongly accused Tandon of being intoxicated and physically assaulting an elder person. Mumbai Police later revealed that these accusations were false and unsubstantiated.

Tandon, however, decided to sue the journalist who made the allegations. A defamation notice dated June 12 has been sent to him/her. According to Tandon’s advocate Sana Raees Khan, “Recently an attempt was made to embroil Raveena in a false and frivolous allegation which was clarified in CCTV footage and the allegation was withdrawn. However, there is someone who claims to be a journalist but he is disseminating false information against X about said incident which is factually incorrect and misleading. This appears as deliberate dissemination of wrong news to damage Raveena’s reputation with ulterior motives.”
Defamation notice sent
Khan additionally stressed out what measures are being taken towards addressing this issue in order to ensure that justice is done for Ms. Tandon’s case. However, the refusal by this journalist from removing this defamatory video has provoked them even more. The team has thus engaged various legal processes including seeking redressal for injury caused due to these slanderous allegations targeting at salvaging Raveena’s reputation while taking all necessary steps.
Recognition for bravery
Nevertheless amidst these happenings during the ordeal it seems no one saw what she did except for others. One insider disclosed that she would be feted by different organizations as they appreciate her courageous nature when she protected her chauffeur who had been attacked by those rowdy individuals during that time. On August 31st 2016, one human rights organization has invited her to Delhi in recognition of her bravery.
