Rakshas is no more, as Ranveer Singh has bowed out of a much expected collaboration with Mythri Movie Makers. Its director Prasanth Varma whose previous hit was Hanuman had promised a grand spectacle. However, to everyone’s disbelief; Singh walked away from the project. According to Bollywood Hungama, Singh opined that the film was not comfortable for him during a promo shoot in Hyderabad which lasted briefly.
“He couldn’t quite picture himself in the South cinema style of making films,” an insider said concerning this situation. On personal grounds, he returned back to Mumbai with an early flight before communicating his decision to the producers. Nevertheless, official confirmation from the studio reveals creative differences as the key reason.

The production house was shocked by this news since they had heavily invested in pre-production and did even a promotional shoot too Sources close to the producers revealed efforts of retrieving. According to Ranveer Singh “Prasanth is a very special talent… Hopefully we will collaborate on something exciting in future.” In response, Varma also observed that,” I really hope we can work together down the line.”
Mythri Movie Makers admits that “everyone’s intentions were right,” but sometimes things “aren’t meant to be at that time.” They have committed themselves to working again on new ventures.
Ranveer has already shot for promo in Hyderabad announcing the movie and it’s during shoot of promo itself when he felt there is some disharmony in energies. At least for now he could not really picture himself in the South cinema’s format of film making. He returned to Mumbai before schedule for personal reasons and it was while he was on his way back half-way from the set that he informed them his decision of pulling out from the film.”
The decision took makers by shock as they were all gearing up to launch the film in a mega way. “Though all energies were aligned, this came like a bombshell for makers,” says an insider. “Some are still left wondering if Ranveer Singh can be brought around for the project as hefty amounts have already gone into pre-production as well as promo shoot,” one source close to producers confided us.
Meanwhile, Rohit Shetty is directing Singham again with Ranveer Singh. Who will also feature in Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar and Farhan Akhtar’s Don 3.
