Two films, starring popular on-screen pairs will hit the big screen again on the 24th of May. The Karan Johar directorial, which is a romantic comedy, was released in July last year. Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani (2023) with Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt is going back to the theaters. After their dazzling chemistry in films like Gully Boy, Singh and Bhatt reunited for this film. Notably, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi are among the other prominent cast members.
Ranbir Kapoor – Deepika Padukone’s Tamasha & Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani featuring Ranveer Singh – Alia Bhatt to be re-released in cinemas on May 24
With this film, Karan Johar returned as a director after seven years. Tota Roy Chowdhury Churni Ganguly Aamir Bashir Kshitee Jog Anjali Anand also star.
Set against Delhi’s colorful background; it features rocky Randhawa (played by Ranveer Singh), a flamboyant Punjabi boy and an intellectual Bengali journalist Rani Chatterjee (Alia Bhatt), who despite being different characters fall into each other’s arms because of love brewing between them. As things get intense between them, Rocky and Rani have to deal with disapproval from their families who try merging their differences. Rocky’s boisterous Punjabi clan do not see eye to eye with refined Bengali lineage of Rani hence many hilarious mix-up are bound to happen due to cultural misunderstandings.
Tamasha is another movie that will be re-released in theaters. It was directed by Imtiaz Ali and its picturesque locations add beauty to its soulful music and love story about the tangle of human relationships while its lead roles played by Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone are the highlight of the film.
It is a story of two people, Ved (Ranbir Kapoor) and Tara (Deepika Padukone), who meet on a vacation in Corsica. Tamasha, running away from their truth, they had a passionate but brief romance that changed their lives. Therefore, there is so much to learn from this movie about self-discovery, following dreams, and love’s strength.
The other film that will also be produced tomorrow is Marathi film Ved starring Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D’souza. He harbors a profound heartache. Satya (Riteish Deshmukh) has been left empty since his childhood sweetheart Nisha (Jiya Shankar) deserted him. Following his father’s insistence he marries his neighbor Shravani (Genelia D’Souza), silently loving him for years though he remains emotionally closed-off holding unto the memory of Nisha. Shravani then becomes a financial backbone supporting him while Satya drowns in alcohol. Nisha’s orphaned daughter arrives one day seeking home and Satya agrees but only if he can adopt her. Would it end matters or resurrect forbidden feelings? Can Shravani win him over with her unconditional love or will past continue to haunt present? Starring Riteish, the film was released in 2022 in theatres.
The reason behind these films being re-released is that studios want to cash in on current trend of audience returning back to cinema after pandemic as well as lack of big releases during May 2024. Additionally, since both movies feature popular star pairs; they are expected not only to attract fans who missed them initially but also those younger ones looking forward into watching such experiences on large screens again.
