On August 18, during the India Day parade in New York, a replica of Ram Mandir will be exhibited to thousands of Indian Americans from the city and its neighbourhoods for the first time. It will be the first time that there will have been a replica of Ram Mandir shown in the United States.
The temple replica will measure 18 feet long, 9 feet wide and 8 feet tall according to Amitabh Mittal who is the general secretary of Vishva Hindu Parishad of America (VHPA). The biggest celebration in New York of India’s Independence Day outside India is an annual event held as; over one hundred and fifty thousand people usually come out to watch. Organised by Federation of Indian Association (FIA), this year’s parade will have various floats representing different Indian American communities and presenting diverse Indian culture as it makes its way through Midtown New York streets between East 38th Street and East 27th Street.
The VHPA-A has recently completed a sixty-day Rath Yatra across 48 states visiting 851 temples.
On January 22, 2024, Ayodhya Ram Temple was inaugurated with ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony of idol Ram Lalla at sanctum sanctorum. PM Modi was chief guest to inaugurate the temple in Ayodhya on that occasion. Attending the consecration were more than seven thousand politicians including film stars associated with movies making as well as industrialists among others.
