Bhawanipatna/Rayagada: The Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday said that the BJP will win all 21 Lok Sabha seats in Odisha and claimed that India will completely eliminate poverty within the next 10-15 years that is “Modi’s promise”
The minister addressed two election rallies at Bhavanipatna and Rayagada, the district headquarters of Kalahandi.
“He alleged that from Jawaharlal Nehru up to Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi and Manmohan Singh all Congress leaders have been promising to eradicate poverty but never has it happened. However, there are beginnings of poverty eradication by Prime Minister Modi,” he alleged.
According to him, this claim was not made by the BJP but based on data from Niti Aayog about more than 250 million people who have been lifted above poverty line under the regime of Modi.
He claimed that during his tenure no previous government had done anything like what Prime Minister Modi did.
“He said India is going to be like a pucca house, piped drinking water and LPG connection in every household across the country within five years” he added.
Singh stated earlier Kalahandi had written some articles on “poverty tourism”, as it was known for hunger deaths. But things have changed significantly under the Modi regime.
He commended BJP’s candidate for Kalahandi Lok Sabha seat Malavika Devi for her oratory skills and called out to people of Kalahandi to vote for BJP’s ‘lotus’ symbol so as “to take local problems at national level”.
While referring to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s comments on expenditure of public funds, Singh observed “If one rupee comes from the Centre only fifteen paise goes into hands of poor. However direct bank transfers (DBT) brought an end to corruption under the Modi regime and enabled people get full funds from the central government.
The minister appealed to people to form a BJP government in Odisha and said that if elected to power, the party would implement Ayushman Bharat Medical Scheme in the state.
According to him, terrorism has almost disappeared and occasional cases will “vanish completely from Indian soil” due to severe action against terrorists by the BJP government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Singh attacked Congress as having “completely failed” in curbing corruption despite being in power for decades.
In response to allegations by the Congress party that the BJP wants to amend the constitution of India, Singh said that “They (Congress party) have amended the constitution 80 times… They even changed the preamble during the Emergency.”
While answering charges of opposition leaders over misuse of CBI and ED, Singh stated that anyone can move court if there are any irregularities with regard to work done by investigating agency.
Both Lok Sabha and Assembly Election in Odisha will be held simultaneously.
