Yesterday, 27 people died in a fire at the TRP Game Zone in Rajkot.
On Thursday, the Gujarat police arrested four government officials including a town planning officer (TPO) and a fire station officer following the gaming zone fire in Rajkot.
They hail from the Rajkot Municipal Corporation, authorities whose negligence allowed an unlicensed amusement park to function for nearly two years.
The arrested individuals are M.D. Sagathia, Mukesh Makwana and Gautam Joshi all assistant TPOs, form Kalavad Road fire station Rohit Vigora.
“They have been arrested,” said Vikas Sahay who is Director of Police for Gujarat State. Subsequently that state government has suspended Mr. Joshi and Mr. Vigora.
So far police have detained nine persons in connection with May 25 fire accident where 27 lost their lives by burning alive.
Earlier, on Thursday State Government in press release said media had reported 33 deaths but based on DNA tests it could be proved that there were only total 27 dead bodies which were identified and handed over to their families. The release added that previous figures of those who lost their lives plus missing ones was derived from multiple complaints as well as duplications or repetition.
