The age limit has been set for children of three to four years old who are admitted into pre-primary classes and six to seven year olds that can be eligible for the class one admissions. The authorities in Directorate of Elementary Education have mandated pre-primary classes and Class 1 RTE admissions while fixing the age limits for each category.
Parents will be able to view the status and preference number of their wards in all applied schools through a separate portal. Starting on 7th June, Mr Kunal said the admission process would go through three phases. The first phase ends on July 25, while admission is given on the basis of preference during the second phase from July 26 to August 16 and third phase from August 17 to August 31.
However, many private schools in Karnataka state are not happy about students joining them at their pre-primary school levels since it was introduced as a category in year 2023-24 without any clarity on how fees payment by government will be done until grade one is reached by such student after three years.
L.C. Bhartiya, President of Swayamsevi Shikshan Sanstha Sangh indicated private schools would admit kids into pre-primary only when assured by state government that it will pay due amount and new academic session fee.
Last year, the education department warned schools that if they did not give admissions under the RTE Act, their recognition could be cancelled.
