Raj Bhavan, Tamil Nadu has lodged a formal complaint with the police demanding a thorough investigation and proper legal action against the spread of false information by people who said that Governor R.N. Ravi had once said ”Eradicate Family Deity Worship” and this is what makes Tamilians drunkards through their family deities.
“The Raj Bhavan has been receiving queries from public with regards to an unauthentic news circulated by media further quoting the Governor as saying that festivals in Family Deity, Nattar Gods and Village Temples are the root cause of deaths due to alcohol consumption”, says a statement.
Raj Bhavan noted that it strongly condemns these statements and distanced itself from spreading fake news intended to mislead innocent people.
The highest office in the state cannot be disgraced by spreading false information which also misinforms members of the public, leading to unrest among them, it added.
