Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Monday (September 2, 2024) highlighted the issues which has been there with Delhi Transport Service (DTC) employees and pointed out that those who ensure the smooth travel of lakhs of passengers every day have received only injustice in return.

Speaking to DTC employees after a pleasant bus ride in Delhi a few days back I understood their daily routine and problems which was intriguing, the former Congress chief captioned his post in Hindi.

“A few days ago, there was a pleasant bus ride in the city. Then I bumped into DTC employees and came to know about their work scheme and issues that they face”, the former President of Congress said in a post in Hindi.

“Unemployment nobody hazards occupational dangers and assumes a reasonable income with no long-term prospects retractable employment interim security these principles of beContract Labour has transformed a line full of responsibility to one of coercion,” he said.

While drivers and conductors are left in the black in conceivably the following the home guards who have always looked after the safety of the travelers are without salary for six months, Mr. Rahul Gandhi said.

Understanding such neglect – much like government employees in the country – even DTC workers are under the threat of privatization, he said.

“These are the soldiers in India who make millions of passengers comfortable every day – but if they have gotten anything in return for sacrificing their precious years, it has only been injustice.” he said.

Demands are apparent – ‘Equal opportunity, equal pay, and justice in full’, Mr. Gandhi announced.

“Heavy hearted and heavy minded they are telling the government here: ‘We’re permanent residents of this city. Then why are our posts only temporary?’ Mr. Rahul Gandhi said.
