Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, a Pakistani singer, was allegedly arrested by the Dubai police on July 13th on a complaint of criminal libel filed by his former manager Salman Ahmad. This sudden happening took place last week. According to the Geo News, Khan was detained after coming from Lahore in Dubai.
The singer was apprehended and interrogated at Bur Police Station following a complaint made by Ahmad’s legal team. The details of these charges have been under wraps but it is generally believed that the allegations concern defamation declared towards Rahat Fateh Ali Khan by Ahamad.
In a video message shared through Instagram yesterday, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan categorically denied the claims. Declaring them “baseless” and “cheap”, he reassured his fans that there was nothing wrong. And that he had come to Dubai for recording new music. The singer has shown confidence in soon returning home amid such gossips allegedly engineered by his adversaries.
“I am Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, your Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. I came to Dubai to record my songs. Everything is fine….Mai yehi aap see guzaarish karunga ki ghatiya afwahon pe bilkul bhi kaan na dhare(I would like to request you not to pay heed to cheap rumors). Aesa kuchh nahin hai jaisa dushman soch rahe hai. Inshallah may jald hi apne vatan-e-azees mein vapas aaunga. (There is no truth in what the enemies are thinking…I will return to my beloved country soon),” he said in a video message on Instagram.
The ongoing legal battle between him and Ahmed goes back quite some time ago. Formerly each suing one another, both parties settled out of court with several cases filed against each other as well. While there was one case pending against Ahmad from Khan in Pakistan. Ahmad also filed a lawsuit against Khan in Dubai and United States alleging defamation and breach of contract.
